Summary
Data Reader works entirely on your device. The app does not have internet access, does not create accounts, and does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data with us or with any third party. It contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools.
What the app accesses on your device
- Usage access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): with your explicit permission, granted in Android settings, the app reads Android's network usage statistics to calculate how much mobile and Wi-Fi data your device and each installed app have used. This information is processed only on your device.
- List of installed apps: used only to display the name of each app next to its data usage.
- Your settings: your monthly mobile data allowance, renewal day and alert preferences are stored locally on your device.
- Notifications: used to show your live data speed and to alert you when you reach 80% and 100% of your data plan.
- Background monitoring: a foreground service, shown as a persistent notification, keeps the live usage display up to date. The app can restart this service after your device reboots.
Data sharing and export
The app never sends data anywhere by itself. If you choose to use the "Export history (Excel / CSV)" feature, the app creates a file with your daily usage figures and opens Android's share menu. You decide where that file goes; once shared, it is handled by the app or service you selected.
Data retention and deletion
All data stays on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android settings or by uninstalling the app. Android's own system backup may include the app's settings if you have device backup enabled; this is managed by Google and your device settings, not by us.
Children
Data Reader is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
